It Isn’t About How Many You Know.
A Book Review by M. Joyce McMenamin
“Have you ever walked barefoot through the dew?”
That is the first line in the introduction to Johnny R. Fatheree’s first book, Plug Into People – How to Have ‘em at Hello.
Even an avid book reader can have a difficult time finding one line in a dozen books that evokes a memory quite as vividly as this one line did for me.
So the author had me from the first ‘hello’. An excellent beginning for a new author, wouldn’t you say?
Discovering that connections are important, many people find themselves nearly living online and possibly networking themselves into an early grave. The author didn’t say that. I did. In a highly tech-based and tightly networked world, this book reminds us of the true value of face-to-face connections with anyone from our families to our customers.
Connecting, the author reminds us, isn’t about how many people one knows, it’s about one’s willingness to touch and be touched by others. At a deeper level, PLUG INTO PEOPLE, asks us to consider that the most important skill we need in building meaningful relationships with others, is our ability to connect with ourselves and through our higher power.
Written from the perspective of a Christian husband, father and ‘Master Connector’, the author has consolidated the connections of a lifetime into a series of short stories and sound advice that is sure to touch the heart of the connected as well as the unconnected amongst us.
