Quick Vocabulary Power: A Self-Teaching Guide
I use this book as part of my tutoring business. Few vocabulary books emphasize affixes and roots, so this is an excellent supplement to any vocabulary enhancement program. Once students learn these affixes and roots, they will have excellent tools for inferring word meanings on standardized tests.

Quick Vocabulary Power , a self-teaching guide, 1995 edition , will ALWAYS be a welcome language tool for the senior High School student or adult whose vocabulary level has not yet reached that level for whatever reasons ( did not pay serious attention to language, an average student in high school ).
It is a workbook as it requires the reader to read and study with a pen or pencil in hand, interactive .
It does have a series of self-tests each and every three page length to make sure you are learning and to evaluate your results.
Working seriously daily for 30 to 45 minutes , you should be able to complete the book in a month and raise your level of comprehension of articles in a general magazine or newspaper of quality such as the N.Y. Times or Newsweek.
I gave it a 4 star as I would have liked to see Excerpts of 50-75 words from these above mentioned media for application of the acquired skills.
A welcome addition to any program of reading .

As someone who has gone through grade school and college, I was looking to increase my vocabulary. I borrowed this book from my local library because it had caught my attention. As I was thumbing through the book, I came to the realization that this book is best suited to someone in grade school or has English as a second language. “Quick Vocabulary Power” contains information that any American who went to school should have learned already. The book is very well structured and very easily understood, but I can only recommend this item if you are looking for an easy refresher course in vocabulary.
